Restaurant notes

Our little noodle bar in the centre of Cheltenham. We opened our family restaurant in 2005 after leaving London and the rat race. Since then the Bar & Wok family has grown into what we hope is now a small Cheltenham institution.

Locally sourcing Asian ingredients is challenging. Bamboo shoots and water chestnuts don’t grow well in the British climate! But where we can, we buy locally. For over 10 years we’ve been collecting our free range eggs from Clay Hall Farm, only 16 miles away. Every week, to ensure absolute freshness, we load up the truck with Chinese pak choi grown on a small family farm in the Vale of Evesham.

FAQs 🤔

Why do I have to order in advance?
Due to the distance from the restaurants, it’s not feasible to have an impromptu service where you can just pick up the phone, place an order and have it delivered in the next hour. Restaurants and chefs need some notice to prepare large quantities of food.

Why is it a set menu?
To keep things simple to start with. Hopefully one day we might be able to handle “a la carte” orders, but for now set meals is the way to keep this all possible.

Why do you use collection points instead of home delivery?
Having a centrally located collection point enables us to get large quantities of food to many people, at the right temperature.

Will you deliver to my door in the future
Whilst we would love to deliver to your door from the get go, we need to test the concept and keep logistics as simple as possible. This may change in the future, just make sure you're signed up to stay in the loop!

How will I know who is serving what food and when?
We will release dates and set menus in advance, please sign up to stay informed.

Will the food be hot?
Yes, the food will arrive ready to eat. We use heat pads in insulated thermo boxes to keep your food at the right temperature.

How do I make an order?
If you like the look of what you see and are available for that date, place your order through our booking form and make a secured payment online.

What's your cancellation policy?
If you cancel at least 48 hours prior to the time of your collection you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the time of collection will result in no refund. Please contact us in the event of any cancellation.

Will you cater for vegetarians and/or vegans?
We aim to always have a vegetarian or vegan option along side our meat option.

How will you deal with dietary requirements?
All allergens will be listed on the set menu order forms.

About

Just because you live a little further out shouldn’t mean you miss out on all the food choices on offer in bigger towns and cities.

Munch aims to bring you delicious meals from previously out of reach independent restaurants and local chefs.

Jin has been successfully running his own Indian street food business from his home in Bishops Cleeve for almost a year. Whilst this was mostly event catering, pop up kitchens and outdoor festivals, he also trialled a new meal delivery service in rural areas where there weren’t many options for quality food. The demand was so great, that he started speaking with local restaurants and chefs to see if they wanted to get their food out to a wider audience. It turns out they did, and so Munch was born!

Munch founders Jin and Tim, both Cheltenham raised, have been friends for over 20 years. Both strive to build a successful business that brings food, value and joy to as many people as possible 😃

How Munch can help your business

  • Extra sales outside of your normal service hours will directly boost your bottom line

  • Pre-orders and two set menus make it easier to buy ingredients, cook in bulk and minimize waste

  • We will help you reach a new out of town audience and might entice them to come into Cheltenham for your full menu experience

  • We will be promoting your brand with each event

Logistics overview

  1. Meal selection You provide us with two set menus, one meat and one veg

  2. Promotion and sales We will promote your meals to our audience and take pre-order payments online

  3. Notice We will let you know at least 24 hours in advance how many meals to prepare

  4. Collection We collect all the packaged meals at a pre-agreed time

  5. Delivery We deliver to one central collection point, bag the meals, and distribute to the customers

  6. Repeat We can repeat this process for each of our collection points on different evenings

Maintaining food temperature

It’s imperative for us that we deliver your meals to the customer at a safe temperature:

  • We will transport your food in thick insulated boxes

  • We will have food safe heat pads in the boxes

  • We are transporting large batches of food, this will help to retain the overall heat for longer

  • We will test your meals temperatures in our boxes at 40 minutes and 1 hour intervals before carrying out an actual service

Commercials

  • We know that people are happy to pay £12-15 per meal. You are welcome to price accordingly

  • We charge 30% for this service

  • We will take online payments for the pre-orders and will aim to send this to you, minus our service fee, within 7-14 working days of the event

We'd love for you to be involved in this exciting new project and we welcome any thoughts or feedback.

Thank you for your early support!

Jin and Tim
